Empower Her: A More Literate and Equal World
What does your Sunday involve?
A browse of the news, a visit to a restaurant, a drive to family, the collection of that shopping order, or the completion of that important healthcare form?
Whatever the demands on you today – literacy underpins your ability to make these life activities happen.
Literacy is more than the capacity to read and write. It’s the key that unlocks opportunities, experiences, connection, independence, and empowerment.
It’s not a privilege but a fundamental human right.
At Lexonik, we believe that nobody should be limited because they can't read, and so, hardly surprisingly, we’re very pleased to reaffirm our commitment to making literacy accessible to all as the world marks International Literacy Day.
This exciting new initiative shares our vision for a more literate and equal world, designed to empower women, help them build confidence, and take control of their futures through literacy.
The UK government’s International Women and Girls’ Strategy emphasises the importance of girls’ education, but it doesn’t address educating women.
Mothers’ Union want to work with the new government to ensure that they prioritise women’s education, regardless of their age, so that no woman is left behind.
We applaud that commitment and see it as so aligned with our vision and values.
We see it as particularly relevant when the theme for this year’s International Literacy Day, as stated by UNESCO, is ‘promoting multilingual education: literacy for mutual understanding and peace’.
Privileged as we are to travel the world in teaching our Lexonik programmes, we recognise the role literacy does (and needs to) play in different parts of the globe.
We also seek a world where the life-changing power of literacy tears down barriers and ensures people can succeed and thrive, regardless of race, gender, faith, or financial capacity.

And if today’s reminder of the power of literacy, and its significance in bringing communities and countries together, has prompted you to consider our work please do reach out to us at enquiries@lexonik.co.uk.
Whatever you’re doing today, remember the role literacy is playing in enabling you to do so.
We welcome your thoughts and support as ever.
Thank you.
