Lexonik Leap - Filling Phonics Gaps, Fast
Lexonik Leap is designed for students who find basic literacy challenging, especially older learners.
The programme addresses phonics gaps with age-appropriate resources, ensuring students of all ages can build foundational literacy skills quickly and confidently.
Every learner deserves the foundational literacy skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Lexonik Leap focuses on addressing phonics gaps at any age, using resources that respect the maturity of older students, to effectively fill knowledge gaps. The programme is designed to be efficient, minimising time away from the curriculum and allowing students to make swift progress.
How it works - Targeted Phonics Development
Lexonik Leap covers six essential areas of language acquisition to ensure a well-rounded approach. The flexible structure allows teachers to adapt activities to meet individual student needs, focusing on phonological development, language acquisition and gives opportunities for oracy - particularly important for EAL learners.
- Phoneme to Grapheme Correspondences. Understanding the relationship between sounds and their written forms.
- Word Building. Developing skills to form and recognise words.
- High-Frequency Words. Securing students' knowledge of 100 sight words.
- Vowel Digraphs. Teaching the vowel combinations that produce unique sounds.
- Split Vowel Digraphs. Addressing letter combinations that influence vowel pronunciation.
- Prefixes. Introducing common morphemes to expand vocabulary.
Diagnostic-Led Delivery
Lexonik Leap is different from traditional phonics programmes tailored to primary-aged students. Instead of covering an exhaustive list of letter patterns, Leap prioritises the most common, ensuring students achieve meaningful progress with minimal withdrawal from regular classes.
The programme starts with an online diagnostic assessment to identify phonics gaps, set entry points and guide teaching plans. Progress can be monitored by teachers and other stakeholders, ensuring targeted and effective instruction.
