Facing Facts Getting Students Resit Reading in 2024 JOIN OUR FREE WEBINAR

Resits are a reality.

There. We’ve said it.

For a great many of you FE college leaders, you’ll already be having conversations with your colleagues about what the next resit cohort is going to have to do ahead of November or for the next opportunity in Spring.

And, let’s face it, that’s another logistical and timetable constraint for your school community.

You may well have anticipated the kind of stats reported by TES in the wake of the GCSE results.

No wonder the media became awash with references to the ‘soul-destroying scenario’ being faced by students who repeatedly face the churn of resitting exams without success.

So, what now?

How do we move forward from the 2024 reality of a decline in English Literature and Language grades, including a fall in resit students obtaining English Language – down from 25.9 per cent last year to 20.9 per cent this year?

How do we do so without simply deploying further blind optimism and asking students to face their feared resits once again?

Well, while we cannot guarantee you a full house of A*s and jubilant young people in six months’ time, we do know that we can (and very much should) use our skill and expertise to help equip you in any way we can.

At Lexonik, we’re committed to addressing the issue around resits.

We’re also in the very fortunate position of being able to share wisdom about literacy interventions and resit success, and – most importantly – we have the chance for you to receive our FULLY-FUNDED intervention programme from the Department for Education, worth the equivalent of £30,000.

Our programmes are designed to rapidly elevate students’ reading and vocabulary skills. Lexonik’s proven methodology typically increases a student's reading age by an average of 27 months within just 6 weeks.

You can see why we feel we have a role to play in serving you when it comes to resits, but first and foremost, we want to provide insight and a conversation as you face the dilemma of how best to begin your resit strategy.

In light of this, we’re announcing our upcoming ‘Resit Ready’ webinar on 11th September at 3:30 pm.

This is a fabulous way to hear directly from our CEO, Sarah Ledger, about how our programmes work and how you can access them through DfE funding for our literacy interventions.

Sarah says: “I really feel for all you leaders who are now exploring how to move forward and approach the resit pathway.

“As a former English Teacher and as a deputy headteacher for a number of years, I truly feel I have been there and worn the t-shirt, which is exactly why I’d love the chance to share more with you about resit delivery in general and talk about how we might specifically help you.”

“Please do think about signing up to our webinar on 11th September. I have no doubt it will be a great decision for your school community.”

Please consider this an opportunity to make a lasting impact on your students' educational journey.

We look forward to collaborating with you to ensure that more students can achieve the success they deserve.
